Day 1
Afternoon – Squerryes
During your first afternoon, take a trip to Squerryes Winery – this is a beautiful and historic vineyard set within a 2,500 acre estate on the North Downs. Guided tours run year-round and include a 'Spirit of the Terroir' tour of the stunning vineyard by Land Rover, including a tutored wine tasting, with Kentish cheeses and charcuterie. A 'Spirit of the House' tour also includes a visit to Squerryes Court for a guided tour led by the 8th generation owners, Henry and Clare Warde - with a fascinating history and stories to share of the entrepreneurs and game-changers that have shaped the estate over the last 300 years. The walls of their stunning home are decorated with original works of art from the likes of Rubens and Van Dyck, and within the rooms you’ll see some of the original furniture collected by the family in the 1700s, when they took ownership of Squerryes.
Evening – The Spa Hotel
Situated in 14 acres of picturesque grounds on the edge of Royal Tunbridge Wells, The Spa is a family run Hotel offering 70 well appointed and individually styled bedrooms and a stunning spa. Using only the finest products, including ESPA and Guinot, you can indulge in a range of luxurious treatments in relaxing surroundings. Book an Aromatherapy Associates treatment, specialising in harnessing the natural healing powers of the finest natural ingredients, purest extracts and essential oils, or indulge in a Champagne afternoon tea package that includes a luxury facial and back massage.
Day 2
Morning - The Hush Heath Estate
For the morning, head over to the breathtakingly beautiful Hush Heath Estate, home of the award-winning Balfour Brut Rosé. Hidden away in the Kent countryside near Staplehurst, the Estate produces one of England's most iconic and exclusive sparkling wines using the Traditional Method. Visitors are invited to stroll through the Estate’s perfectly manicured vineyards, apple orchards and ancient oak woodlands rich with wildlife, flora and fauna. With a history dating back to 1503, the exquisite Tudor-framed Hush Heath Manor is the family home of the Balfour-Lynn's. The Manor nestles into the hill, overlooking the vineyards and estate with magnificent views across the Weald of Kent. Share in the passion of entrepreneur owner Richard Balfour-Lynn and discover a range of wine tasting and tour experiences in their state-of-the-art winery.
Lunch - The Goudhurst Inn
After your visit to Hush Heath, stop for a spectacular meal at The Goudhurst Inn. Part of the Hush Heath Estate and located in the gorgeous village of Goudhurst, the family-friendly pub has a superb sun terrace and children’s play area. With such an abundance of beautiful, wholesome produce found in the fields and gardens of Kent, the kitchen uses local suppliers on a daily basis to deliver the freshest and most seasonal dishes. You can expect a combination of traditional pub fayre and elegant modern classics – as well as fresh clay oven pizzas made with authentic Italian dough. Make sure to leave room to sample some of the delights on their heavenly pudding menu to complete your meal.
Afternoon - Biddenden Vineyard
Kent’s original family run vineyard, Biddenden Vineyards is home to some of Kent’s oldest vines – many that have been in the ground for almost fifty years. Ripe with history and bursting with stories to share, these vines are the heart and soul of the business. Guests can enjoy a pre-booked private guided tour or simply visit the vineyard shop which offers a wide range of local & artisan food & drink alongside Biddenden’s award-winning sparkling & still wines to take home.
Dining & Accommodation - Eastwell Manor
For your evening's dining and accommodation, try the stunning Eastwell Manor, a Champneys Spa Hotel, situated within beautiful landscaped gardens close to Ashford. Here you can enjoy glorious views of the North Downs and a luxurious and award-winning Champneys spa offering an extensive range of health and beauty treatments. Their collection of leisure facilities also includes a 20-metre heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, 3,000 square foot gym, designated walkways and footpaths, all weather tennis court, pétanque court, croquet lawn and nine-hole golf course. At Eastwell Manor they also pride themselves on an outstanding range of dining options, celebrating British heritage with an international influence.
Day 3
Morning - Chapel Down Winery
Set amongst 22 acres of vineyards and recognised as an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', the world-famous Chapel Down winery has excellent facilities for visiting guests. Discover the stories behind-the-scenes of the ‘Home of English wine’ by taking a fascinating group tour of the vineyard and winery. In the vineyard learn how they use the Kentish climate to grow fantastic ripe fruit and then transform that fruit into a range of stunning, award-winning wines. The tour will culminate in a tutored tasting of six specially selected still and sparkling wines. Take your time, explore the grounds, visit the beautiful herb garden and stroll amongst the sun kissed vines.
Lunch - The Swan
For lunch, a table could be booked at Chapel Down's Michelin-recommended on-site restaurant. The Swan Wine Kitchen is an elegant but informal family-friendly restaurant, with a stunning dining terrace overlooking the vineyards. Experience the finest locally and regionally-sourced produce cooked to perfection, alongside award-winning wines, craft beers and ciders from Chapel Down. For an extra special dining experience why not book The Chef’s Table, an elegant private dining room elevated within the main restaurant with direct views to the hub of the kitchen, and enjoy the Feasting Menu, serving a range of sumptuous sharing dishes family-feast style.
Afternoon - Gusbourne
A scenic cross-country drive will bring you to the Gusboune Winery in charming Appledore. Here staff would be delighted to welcome you for a guided tour of the estate and tasting of their award-winning sparkling wines.
The estate dates back to 1410 and now combines age-old tradition with modern technology and cutting-edge equipment. The Discovery Tour is the ideal way to experience and enjoy Gusbourne in its entirety. This includes a full walking tour of the vineyards and winery before settling down in their luxurious and architecturally stunning new tasting room – The Nest.
Dining & Accommodation - The Hythe Imperial Hotel
The Hythe Imperial has stood at the heart of the beautiful seaside town for hundreds of years. The name of town stems from the Old English for 'Haven', and that’s exactly what you’ll find there. Replete with Victorian splendour, the hotel is a stone's throw from the beach and offers guests the chance to bask in the coastal air and panoramic sea views. Also home to an impressive Health Club & Spa, the hotel offers a selection of treatments that are all about a journey of the senses, ensuring an experience that rebalances the mind and body.
Day 4
Lunch - The Fordwich Arms
After a leisurely morning exploring, head to the picturesque town of Fordwich for lunch. Situated on the Great Stour river and on record as the smallest town in Britain, it is the perfect for spot for a leisurely stroll followed by lunch. The Fordwich Arms is a delightful traditional English pub, located a stones throw from the river, with sunny garden dining and serving a delicious selection of dishes using local Kentish ingredients such as the Stour Valley pheasant or Chart Farm venison.
Afternoon - Simpsons Wine Estate
A beautiful 20 minute drive will bring you to Simpsons Wine Estate where a visit will include a walking tour of 'The Roman Road’ vineyard taking in the vines and learning about how they are planted, grown and harvested. Returning to the winery, guests will discover the secrets of the winemaking process from the comfortable vantage point of the elegant Glass House Tasting Room. Your experience will culminate in a guided tasting of wines from Simpsons Wine Estate plus a chance to taste a few bottles from their sister property, Domaine de Sainte Rose, in Southern France. If that were not enough you’ll then have the opportunity to take a trip down the ‘Fruite Chute' helter skelter - the only winery slide in the World!
