Day 1
Arrive in Rye in East Sussex, one of England’s best kept secrets. Nestled between green rolling hills and the English Channel it is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in England. Stay in a historic inn, built in 1420, the inn has long, jagged and rather fascinating history, and attracts everyone from Shakespeare historians to ghost hunters, a medieval gem!
Relax with private transfers into the vineyards, enjoy a three-course lunch in a charming setting, focused on using quality, seasonal, local ingredients paired with English wines. Walk off lunch with a vineyard stroll where the cycle of the vine growing year will be explained to you. The tour will then move into the winery where your guide will lead you through the wine-making process, concluding with a wonderful tasting of the award-winning sparkling wines.
Day 2
Enjoy a full-day chauffeured English wine tasting tour. Meet with your guide after breakfast and discover a sprawling collection of rural towns and pretty villages set in pristine countryside. Start the day visiting the breathtakingly beautiful Hush Heath Estate, home of the award-winning Balfour Brut Rosé. Hidden away in the Kent countryside near Staplehurst, the Estate produces one of England’s most iconic and exclusive sparkling wines using the Traditional Method.
Next up is the UK’s largest wine producer. They produce world-class sparkling wines, as well as aromatic white wines and elegant light red wines from grapes such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Bacchus.
Unwind with lunch in a fabulous 19th-century pub enjoying seasonal, British and locally sourced cuisine paired with local wines.
In the afternoon visit a wonderful estate situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Woodchurch set on hills looking south over the ancient Romney marsh down to the English channel and taste their hand-crafted wines.
Day 3
Start the day with a coastal walk in Rye Harbour. From coast to countryside, seaside to historic towns and villages, there are many things to do and places to see.
Or why not walk along Camber Sands, a fabulous stretch of unspoilt sandy beach. It features one of the purest and longest dune systems on the South Coast, and the only one to be found in East Sussex.
If you fancy a little more history, Bodiam Castle offers a glimpse of medieval splendour before you leave.
